Q: What quality paint and canvas is used on your paintings?
A: We hand paint a range of styles and subjects and thus have more than fifty highly qualified artists in our main studios here, each with a different skill set and specialty. We strive to provide you with museum-quality pieces of art. Keeping this in mind, we carefully select the materials used in creating each of our masterpieces.

We only use Artist grade oils (which have high amount of colour pigment, low additives) with all our products to ensure durability and quality. We prefer working with materials from Winsor & Newton and Grumbacher.

Economy grade oil, as used by other portrait painters who source their work from developing countries, differs from Artist grade paint because it uses fewer colour pigments in the manufacturing of the paint. The pigments that are taken out are replaced with a neutral extender. This reduces the tinting strength, opacity and colour variety of the oils.

Additionally, artist grade paints, unlike their cheaper equivalents, are less likely to be subject to moisture damage - meaning they should not flake or fade over time.

In addition, we use a heavy woven canvas as a medium for the painting. The high-grade canvas is more durable to cheaper, more readily available equivalents, and is less likely to rip or damage in time.

Together, this means the painting looks great, for longer!

Q: What medium are the paintings delivered on?

A: All of our paintings are delivered on an unframed and unscratched canvas. This gives you the flexibility of choosing a frame/mount locally and allows us to offer you lower postage costs. Paintings are posted rolled-up in a durable tube and sent by courier.reat, for longer!

Q: How long until I can expect my canvas to arrive ?
A: As all our paintings are created on a made-to-order basis, please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery.

Deliveries can arrive at anytime between 9am - 5.30pm, so if you are not in during the day it may be easier to arrange the delivery to be made to your work address. If you are not in, the courier will leave a card and you should arrange re-delivery with them.

Q: Do you offer any more sizes?
A: We offer a made to measure service. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Q: Do you have a gallery or somewhere I can see examples of the canvas?
A: We have a private studio in the UK with no showroom or retail facilities. Being 'internet only' allows us to keep our costs low and offer competitive prices.

If you would like a closer look at our studio or would like to browse a selection of previously completed works, click here.

Remember, we work closely with all our clients and can email high-resolution progress photos on a regular basis. Also, we email all clients a high-resolution photo of their painting for their approval prior to dispatch; changes can be made without additional charge and all orders are covered by our money-back guarantee.

Q: What if I am not happy with my picture when it is delivered?
A: We want you to be delighted with any picture you buy from Art|REP. We guarantee to exchange or refund any items you are not completely satisfied with. All we ask is that you return the picture in a re-saleable condition within 14 days. You are responsible for the cost of returning the picture.

Q: What if my picture is damaged when it arrives?
A: This is very unlikely as our products are all carefully packed to protect them in transit.

However we will replace or refund any items that do not reach you in a satisfactory condition.

Q: Can you paint a portrait from my photo?
A: We are confident that we can reproduce any painting our customers choose. Some paintings require a photo-realistic finish (although still done entirely by hand) whilst others need to be impressionist of have extremely thick texture. On occasion we even paint using a palette knife. We are therefore able to offer a wide variety – let us know what you want, and we'll happily paint it!

Please refer to our Portrait section of the site where you can upload your digital image.

Q: What if my picture is not in a digital format?
A: You have a number of options! You can (i) make a high-resolution scan of the original image and submit the resulting digital image (ii) carefully take a photo of the photo and email the resulting image; or (iii) contact us to discuss posting the original photo to us. Please contact us for more information.

As with a digital format the overall size depends on the original size & quality of the image, please contact us for more information.

Q: How do I care for my canvas?
A: To maximise the lifespan of your canvas do not expose continuous, strong sunlight or moisture. Do not clean with a wet/damp cloth; a gentle hoover with the brush attachment will get rid of any dust on the surface.

Q: Do you supply to trade?
A: Yes, please click here for more information.

Q: How does the shopping cart work?
A: Just like a shopping trolley at a supermarket, you can put things in your cart (by clicking on the 'Add to Shopping Cart' button) without having to buy them - it is just a way of holding onto things that you are interested in.

You are not committed to a purchase until you take your selected item(s) through to the checkout. However, you cannot purchase an item until it has been added to your cart, so remember to check the contents of your cart carefully before you check out.

You can check the contents of your cart at any time by clicking on the view cart link along the top of the page or on the right hand side of the category pages. If you want to remove something, simply click on the red x .

When you have finished shopping click on the 'view cart’, then click on proceed to checkout .
You will be then asked for your personal details. The shopping cart uses cookies to operate.
